WHO WE HELP · INDUSTRIES
Built for trades.
We don’t do marketing for everyone. We do it for trades and home-services businesses, and we know the difference between your work and the next trade’s.
A marketing agency for tradesmen.
PhD Networks is a marketing agency for tradesmen, not a generalist agency that happens to take on trades clients. That distinction changes how the work gets done. A generic marketing agency sees "electrician" or "roofer" on a brief and reaches for the same template it uses for a restaurant or a retailer. We start from the trade itself: what a good job is worth, how a customer searches for it, how urgent it feels, and what separates a business someone trusts enough to let into their home from one they scroll past.
That matters because trades businesses aren't one shape. An emergency electrician at 11pm and a builder quoting a loft conversion are both "trades", but they're sold completely differently: one wins on being the first number answered, the other on weeks of quiet trust-building before the phone ever rings. Job values swing wildly within a single trade too, a small callout and a full re-roof are not the same customer, and treating them the same wastes budget on the wrong searches.
Seasonality is real and, more often than not, predictable: storm damage spikes roofing enquiries, the first cold snap spikes boiler breakdowns, spring fills the landscaping diary. Trust signals carry more weight here too, NICEIC, Gas Safe, NFRC, Which? Trusted Trader, because the decision a customer is making isn't just "who's cheapest", it's "who do I let into my house". We build the marketing calendar and the message around all of that, trade by trade, rather than running one playbook for everyone.
Trades we know.
- 01 Electricians From a domestic fault-finding callout to a commercial fit-out, the searches and the buyers are nothing alike. Callouts, rewires, EV chargers and commercial contracts, won on your own patch.
- 02 Plumbers A blocked drain and a boiler install are different customers with different budgets and different urgency. Boiler installs, bathrooms and service plans, not a race to the bottom on price.
- 03 Roofers Job value swings from a small patch repair to a five-figure re-roof, and the weather decides when the phone rings. Re-roofs, flat roofs and insurance work, not storm-chasing scraps.
- 04 Builders A five-figure extension is researched for weeks before the first enquiry ever reaches you. Extensions, lofts and renovations, with the diary booked months ahead.
- 05 Landscapers Spring fills the diary, but the businesses that win it start marketing in winter, not March. Design-builds, patios and driveways, with spring filled before winter ends.
- 06 Window Fitters National brands can outspend a local firm many times over, so the fight is won on trust, not budget. Double glazing, sash and aluminium, beating the nationals on your streets.
- 07 Pest Control An infestation is an emergency decision, answered by whoever picks up the phone first. The first call on every callout, with marketing weighted to the season.
- 08 Dental Practices Private dental marketing has to sit inside advertising rules that general trades never have to think about. Private treatments and registrations, compliant, measured and steady.
Your trade, your job type.
